First you must define great. Is there a certain number that defines it? I certainly hope not or else only one would be able to be great. There are many great deadlifters and all of them have and had different techniques and training tatics. To be great you must constantly thirst for knowledge. You must look and study training philosiphies of past greats. People have put together great training programs that work so why not try them out? Or better yet customize it to fit you. On top of that you could mix programs to develop your own. There are tons of options out there. Do not forget to train your weaknesses left unattended too they will become weaker and hold you back from obtaining your ultimate goals. I am also a firm believer as some might disagree that the deadlift should be close to if not higher than your squat. If it isnt then something needs to be done. Are you using your best possible leverages for the lift?(Sumo or conventional style) Are you training it often or at all? Using proper form? Always remember to keep an open mind and that variation is the key to strength. Nobody is going to make you reach your personal best but you! Goodluck! GO PULL! ";D"
